01/27/2012 - Paris, France (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - PSG signed Brazil defender Alex from Chelsea on Friday on a 2 1/2-year deal.
Alex, 29, left Brazilian club Santos in 2004 for Chelsea, and remained at the English Premier League club - with the exception of a loan to PSV Eindhoven - until the switch to France.
He made just three appearances in the Premiership this season under new Blues coach Andre Villas-Boas, and has not played in two months. He will join former Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti at PSG.
"Paris was my first choice," Alex said. "During the last two months, I wanted to leave Chelsea. Were then entered into negotiations with PSG.
"I knew the greatness of the club and I wanted to logically come. I spent two years under the direction of Carlo Ancelotti in London and I am very happy to be here in Paris."
Alex leaves Chelsea after making 86 appearances. He has also played 18 matches for Brazil, making his first appearance for his country in 2004.
He follows Brazilian defender Maxwell to PSG this January. Maxwell joined from Barcelona earlier this month.
PSG spent more than $100 million on transfers last summer and the two signings take the club's spending spree to approximately $125 million, although no fee for the transfer of Alex was announced.
